Only Gnome Wayland works

0

I'm a bit confused on what happened to my debian strech the other day, and how come that I can only use Gnome Wayland to access my display manager, to be clear if I choose Gnome I've got Login Loop triggered.

Simple inspection of my graphic card gives me this output.

 ➜ ~ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0b)

➜ ~ find /dev -group video
/dev/video1
/dev/video0
find: ‘/dev/vboxusb’: Permission denied
/dev/fb0
/dev/dri/card0
/dev/dri/renderD128
➜ ~ glxinfo | grep -i vendor
server glx vendor string: SGI
client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI
Vendor: Intel Open Source Technology Center (0x8086)
OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center

Now inspecting /var/log/Xorg.0.log will trow

➜ ~ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

I did try to read the xorg docs and do the configuration part because I was missing xorg.conf file, so the above output is generated from trying to

What if I do not have a xorg config file? If xorg.conf is missing for
some reason, Xorg will probe your hardware on every startup. Though
this works fine in most cases, some settings remain inaccessible. To
create a starting point for customization, do the following.

Switch to a console as root (not a terminal emulator in X), then run:

/etc/init.d/gdm stop || /etc/init.d/gdm3 stop || /etc/init.d/kdm stop || /etc/init.d/xdm stop || /etc/init.d/lightdm stop $ cd

/etc/X11/

Xorg -configure Alternatively, reboot the machine in single user mode, then run: $ cd /etc/X11/

Xorg -configure Follow the on-screen instructions. This should give you something to work with.

Because this is the first time I'm seeing this I'm not sure what is happening, so can anyone explain me what is going on and how can I fix this, thanks.

Because this is the first time I'm seeing this I'm not sure what is happening, so can anyone explain me what is going on and how can I fix this, thanks.

I'm a bit confused on what happened to my debian strech the other day, and how come that I can only use Gnome Wayland to access my display manager, to be clear if I choose Gnome I've got Login Loop triggered.

Simple inspection of my graphic card gives me this output.

       ➜ ~ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0b)

      ➜ ~ find /dev -group video
      /dev/video1
      /dev/video0
      find: ‘/dev/vboxusb’: Permission denied
      /dev/fb0
      /dev/dri/card0
      /dev/dri/renderD128
      ➜ ~ glxinfo | grep -i vendor
      server glx vendor string: SGI
client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI
Vendor: Intel Open Source Technology Center (0x8086)
OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center

      Now inspecting /var/log/Xorg.0.log will trow

I did try to read the xorg docs and do the configuration part because I was missing xorg.conf file, so the above output is generated from trying to

What if I do not have a xorg config file? If xorg.conf is missing for
some reason, Xorg will probe your hardware on every startup. Though
this works fine in most cases, some settings remain inaccessible. To
create a starting point for customization, do the following.

Switch to a console as root (not a terminal emulator in X), then run:

      /etc/init.d/gdm stop || /etc/init.d/gdm3 stop || /etc/init.d/kdm stop || /etc/init.d/xdm stop || /etc/init.d/lightdm stop $ cd
