CentOS7.5 + Alsa + ALC892 master volume change issue

0

using CentOS7.5 with ALC892. Pulsaudio is uninstalled, only Alsa is used on its own (e.g aplay + amixer). Whenever I change the master volume on sound card, it takes ~30 second while the volume change gets propagated to the card. If I keep playing an audio file (either aplay or speaker-test), the volume is not changed (regardless that amixer doesn't give any error).

Any idea what the problem might be? How can I debug this? shall I somehow increase the log level on snd_hda_intel?
Thanks,
