Create custom shortcut in Ubuntu

Colleagues that are using Mac use certain apps in order to ease following workflow:
For example you want to search for certain ID in your issue tracker.
Instead of open the browser, enter url of issue tracker, go to search bar, enter id.
They actually press mac button, enter shortcut which indicates search id in issue tracker and enter id. The shortcut will do all the stuff like open the browser and so on.
Is there something like that for Ubuntu?

Actually it's about if there is easily usable software for that purpose.

Can you provide more detail about the interface you're trying to create? Do you mean something like Firefox smart keywords?
