顧客（こきゃく、英：customer）とは、自社の商品やサービスを販売する対象のこと[1]。


「顧客」は、やや経営学寄りの用語（やや学問的な表現）であり、組織内ではしばしば気持ちを込めたり、顧客との関係を明らかにしつつ「お客様」と表現することが一般的である。

概説


より適切に表現するならば「自組織の商品やサービスを購入したり利用して下さる方（個人・法人）」のこと。すでに購入してくれている人（個人・法人）はもちろん「顧客」であるが、これに加えて、購入する可能性が有りそうな人も含めて「顧客」とすることもある。顧客というのは個人だけでなく、法人（企業や業者や行政機関）までも含まれる。


ピーター・ドラッカーは「The purpose of business is to create customer　（事業の目的とは顧客の創造である）」と説明した。事業のあるべき目的というのは、（浅はかな経営者が往々にして思ってしまっているようなこととは異なって）自組織の金銭的な利益の追求や、ただ利己的なもの、などであるべきではなく、顧客を創り出すこと、つまり社会に役立つような製品やサービスを提供してそれを使っていただけるような良い関係を結んでゆくこと、自組織が社会から望まれるような良き存在となることだ、としたのである。


市場は、どのような顧客を対象とするかによって区分されることがある。（「消費者市場」「生産者市場」「流通市場」「政府市場」など。）[2]
