Partition seemed to do nothing for Ubuntu dual boot
I am currently trying to dual boot Ubuntu with Windows 10. Despite me partitioning my hard drive I only see 1MB of free space in the Ubuntu installation process.

So do I. All partitions on both drives are formatted and hence regarded as "in use by Windows". Where do you want your Ubuntu installation to go?

You will need to set the type of the partition.
Easiest way for you is, from the screen above, DELETE the partition(s) where you want to linux to reside. When you boot the installer it will see this free space and give the option to create a new partition; when it does so it will use the correct type.
