How do I display a message at the start of every video in VLC?

0

I've got several videos in a playlist in VLC (ver 2.2.4 Weatherwax). Before
each video plays, or during the start of each video, I want a message to appear
on the screen (in large-ish letters), to remind me to watch for something in the
video. The message is always the same, and I want it to disappear after say 5 to
10 seconds.

I'd like the above to happen while in full screen mode.

I also have the feature in place "Pause on the last frame of a video"*, which
pauses the playlist at the end of each video, and waits for me to press the
">>|" symbol ("Next media in the playlist"). (*You enable that feature in
Tools/Preferences/Simple/Interface).

How do I make the message appear that I mention?

Things I've tried

1. Tools/EffectsAndFilters/VideoEffects/Overlay/AddText.

But the text I specify STAYS on the screen.

2. Tools/Preferences/All/Video/Subtitles-OSD then enable "On Screen Display".

But I don't know how to make this do anything, and don't know if it can display
a message for only 5 to 10 seconds.
