CentOS group directory permissions for FTP folder
I have the following directory /home/server/server-data
where the 3 of us working, uploading new files and editing each other’s files.
The issue I’m having is figuring out permissions. So, if one of us uploads a new file, I’m running chmod
to change the permissions so that, each time a new file is uploaded, so others can edit it. I also assigned all the users to a group called admin
, tried to figure out group ownership and permissions, just don’t understand.
I am using CentOS 7 and proftp.

and the output ofls -lha
from within the directory you are referring to as/home/server/server-data
?
