エンドユーザー（英: end-user）とは、経済学と商業において、「商品を使う人」を意味する言葉である。末端消費者。エンドユーザーの議論は一般的にコンピュータアプリケーションに関する文脈で行われる。



概要


エンドユーザーは顧客とは異なる概念である。顧客は商品を購入したとしても、必ずしもそれを使うとは限らない。例えば、ゾウの餌を顧客として買うのは飼育係だが、エンドユーザーはゾウである。契約書などでは、「エンドユーザー」という用語は再販業者でない者を示す。この定義で見れば、飼育係に餌を売った業者が非エンドユーザーで、飼育係はエンドユーザーということになる。エンドユーザー使用許諾契約書(例えば、ソフトウェアインストール時のライセンス契約確認画面)では、この定義で「エンドユーザー」という用語を使っている。



コンピュータ関連での定義


「エンドユーザー」はソフトウェア工学での中心的概念のひとつであり、あるソフトウェアを最終的に使うと想定される人々を抽象して「エンドユーザー」と称する。他に、想定ユーザー、対象ユーザーなどとも言う。


この抽象は、ユーザインタフェースを設計する際に有用である。エンドユーザーがどんなインタフェースを（以前に使ったことがあるとか、特有の単純さを備えているといった理由で）快適と感じるか、あるいは技術的な経験の程度や対象分野やプロジェクトに関する知識レベルなども含めて、ユーザーの特徴を考慮して設計が行われる。


プログラムを広く大衆向けに製造販売する場合は、エンドユーザーの想定に小さな制約が課せられる。一般に、そのような場合にコンピュータ・インタフェースについての技術的経験や事前の訓練がほとんど全く無いと想定することが多い。これは、「エンドユーザー」という用語についての一般的な印象にも付きまとう。

Can't connect RFCOMM socket: Host is down
