I am trying to install centos-release-SCL on CentOS 6.7. I want to do this to get python2.7. I have tried:

sudo yum --disablerepo=* --enablerepo=extras install centos-release-SCL
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security
Setting up Install Process
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* extras: anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk
No package centos-release-SCL available.
Error: Nothing to do

I have then tried:

I just installed it on CentOS 6.7 (also with the intent of installing python2.7, which also worked). So I don't have an answer, other than to show the output (below). However, this isn't a "stock" CentOS 6.7 release; this is the Hortonworks Sandbox VM. You can try it, too, and see if it works, and see what's different between the two configurations.

$ lsb_release -a
LSB Version: :base-4.0-amd64:base-4.0-noarch:core-4.0-amd64:core-4.0-noarch:graphics-4.0-amd64:graphics-4.0-noarch:printing-4.0-amd64:printing-4.0-noarch
Distributor ID: CentOS
Description: CentOS release 6.7 (Final)
Release: 6.7
Codename: Final

$ sudo yum install -y centos-release-SCL
