xrandr won't switch to new mode
xrandr has set the refresh rate on my external monitor to 30Hz, and I cannot change it to 60. The monitor is 3440x1440 and does indeed support 60Hz (it also works on a different machine).
On the working machine:
xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3440 x 1440, maximum 8192 x 8192
XWAYLAND3 connected 3440x1440+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 800mm x 340mm
3440x1440 74.95*+
On the one with the issue:
xrandr
HDMI-1 connected 3440x1440+1920+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 800mm x 335mm
3840x2160 30.00 25.00 24.00 29.97 23.98
3440x1440 29.97*
2560x1080 60.00 59.94 59.98
1920x1080 60.00 60.00 50.00 59.94
...
I tried adding a new mode...
cvt 3440 1440 60.00
# 3440x1440 59.94 Hz (CVT) hsync: 89.48 kHz; pclk: 419.50 MHz
Modeline "3440x1440_60.00" 419.50 3440 3696 4064 4688 1440 1443 1453 1493 -hsync +vsync
then
xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 "3440x1440_60.00"
it now appears in the output of xrandr
Switching to it does not work and the output doesn't help afaik:
xrandr --verbose --output HDMI-1 --mode 3440x1440_60.00
crtc 1: 3440x1440_60.00 59.94 +1920+0 "HDMI-1"
xrandr: Configure crtc 1 failed
crtc 0: disable
crtc 1: disable
crtc 2: disable
screen 0: revert
crtc 0: revert
crtc 1: revert
crtc 2: revert
Quoting the mode yields the same result.
Seems like a weird Wayland / X issue.
