How do I remove the dots generated by Texshop autocomplete

Texshop adds dots after autocomplete is called. They slow me down as I have to delete them manually (or use CTRL-COMMAND-F again only to jump to the next mark and delete it, which I want to avoid since I never use marks, making it an even slower method for me).

I have read (Why does TeXShop add a dot after autocomplete) that it is possible to get rid of them by editing the CommandCompletion.txt file. However that file is very long and technical. Is there an easy way to edit it (like using replace all) without breaking it?

  • You can certainly replace all • with nothing in the completion file without any issue. You need to restart TeXShop for the changes to take effect.
