Starting VM in snapshot to rebuild image (backup start)

I'm hoping that its possible to always start VMs in snapshot mode, to then use snapshots to sync other VMs to the one that was used without having to download the whole thing. Half the reason I went with VMs is that I was hoping I could get some kind of sync of OS with it.
